What started as a concept in 2013, Rainbow Fashion Week NY is now a force of nature, punctuating the meaning of "Loud and Proud" as a fashion statement. This year's Inside The Celebrity Closet hosted by Mob Wives Karen Gravano was a hot ticket event!
It began with a recital dedicated to the Orlando victims -a senseless act of violence that ended so many lives. To liven up the evening, Lexz Pryde captured the audience with her hit song Elements. After a second intro dedicating the show to Body Dismorphic Disorder, and two more singing performances, the fashion models began their runway walk. Isolicious' Black & White collection led the program with full figure models in shimmering fabric perfect for evening affairs. Pretty in Pearlz Black & White Collection ended the first half of the show with body hugging outfits, shimmering evening wear, and jumpsuits designed to show off the body for any evening affair. The men's collections were modern street and club wear, tastefully blending black and white colors that was anything but drab.
Midway through the program, veiled and masked dancers marched in and impressed the crowd with their synchronized moves. What started with three electrifying performers, led to an amazing troupe of a dozen dancers. Next up came Bianca Bonnie, aka Young B, performing her famous 2006 online sensation Chicken Noodle Soup, but it didn't stop there. She showed the crowd she's still a lyrical sensation with her freestyle rap dedicating it to Rainbow Fashion Week.
For the second half of the evening, Glamour Queenz Black & White collection adorned their models ranging from the petite to the full-figured. The next collection, Aval by Lava with its sexy Couture Collection, drew attention to the wearer's figure with sheer outfits, flowing layers, low-cut dresses, and the icing of the cake was a body-hugging white gown and hanging jewels. Ending the evening's program was Brian Lane's all male Couture Collection which showed off its tough street-wear style by mixing black leather and fabric.
Combining fashion with awareness toward causes, made it a great evening for Inside The Celebrity Closet. After this evening's success, a great many including myself, are looking forward to next year's RFWNY!
