Jenevieve Cruz is an American Singer-Songwriter, Multi-Instrumentalist, Poet, Producer and a Makeup Artist. Jenevieve was born in Queens, NY to her parents Jacob (Native of Guatemala) and Joey Cruz. Jenevieve was turned onto music at the early age of 4. Her Grandmother (mother's mother)
Singer/Songwriter/Pianist/Composer who performed at nightclubs in Manhattan, would tape record Jenevieve singing Christmas Carol's. Jenevieve was gifted her first guitar at the age of 12 and then learned to play bass guitar at the age of 15 after being inspired by "Flea" (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Jenevieve's first band
experience was playing bass for a punk band in high school. A talent for poetry came to surface soon after. In 2004, during her time in the U.S. Military she nurtured her artistic release from a strict regime, by writing. In 2006, she ventured out to perform spoken poetry on the Lower East Side for open mic
nights. She sometimes used her acoustic guitar to help with the fluidity of her rhyme. In 2008, after a short residency in Las Vegas, playing bass for Jessica Chavez who currently was signed with Paradise Records in France, her focus now was to be a fully-fledged Lyricist/Songwriter.
By 2009, after having joined several upcoming bands to fine-tune her talent
and performance throughout the years, she has finally gone solo. Recently, she
joined forces with producer Peter Orcinoli and established "The Chemistry", an
indie electronic rock project. Jenevieve writes her lyrics using a bass guitar
and or acoustic guitar. Jenevieve also fronts her band "Jenevieve Cruz and the
Submissives" a six piece indie electronic band. You can catch Jenevieve Cruz
performing with "the chemistry" or "the submissives" as well as solo acoustic
acts in North NJ, NYC, FL and California this year.
